WOMEN HELPING WOMEN – CORNERSTONE RECEIVES GRANT FROM
100 WOMEN NORTHUMBERLAND

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) is pleased to announce it has received a $5,700 grant from 100 Women Northumberland. These funds will support more than 100 hours of one-on-one counselling for a woman, or child, fund a 10 week group focused on mothers reconnecting with their children after abuse, and enable more kilometres to be travelled to reach clients in rural areas of the County, helping to breaking down barriers to access services.

Committed to making a difference within their community, 100 Women Northumberland invested in providing readily available, barrier free services for local women and children, further enhancing Cornerstone’s reach and accessibility.

“We are deeply grateful to be the recipient of this gift,” says Carly Cunningham, Manager of Communications & Donor Relations. “This is the second time 100 Women have contributed to Cornerstone, and receiving these funds enables us to continue providing waitlist free services within our County and to carry out our mission to break the cycle of family violence.”

100+ Women Northumberland awards quarterly grants to local organizations through a nomination and voting process amongst its members. “The goal of the program is to bring people together to foster collaboration and to emphasize the importance of collective giving within our community,” states 100 Women Northumberland Co-founder Nicole Beatty. “These grants allow us to connect with organizations, such as Cornerstone, to provide vital services and resources to those in need.”

“This donation will help to enhance access to our counselling services, both onsite and offsite, ultimately allowing us to better serve the residents of Northumberland County, and enrich our client experience,” says Nancy Johnston, Executive Director. “By meeting the needs of abused women and children, we are able to support some of the most vulnerable individuals within our community,” adds Johnston.

Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre is a place where hope grows. We are breaking the cycle of family violence by providing immediate shelter, counseling and prevention services throughout Northumberland County. This year we provided close to 6,000 nights of shelter to women and children in our community impacted by violence.
