100 Women Who Care Northumberland Awards $5,456.86 Grant to Support Essential Stretcher Service and Resident Transportation at Ed’s House
COBOURG, ON – Community Care Northumberland and Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation are pleased to announce that they have been selected as the recipient of a $5,456.86 grant from the generous members of 100+ Women Who Care Northumberland.
The funding will support enhancements that help ensure residents arriving at Ed’s House can do so safely, comfortably, and with dignity during one of life’s most vulnerable moments, reinforcing the compassionate hospice services that families in Northumberland rely on.
“We are deeply grateful to the women of 100 Women Who Care Northumberland for their support and belief in this important project,” said Jordan Prosper, Chief Executive Officer of Community Care Northumberland and Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation. “Their collective generosity will have a direct and lasting impact on individuals and families facing end-of-life journeys in our community.”
Before many residents arrive at Ed’s House, transportation can present a significant challenge. Individuals are often too fragile to travel by personal vehicle, may not qualify for ambulance transportation, and private transfer services can be prohibitively expensive for families already navigating difficult circumstances.
The new hydraulic stretcher will help ensure safer transfers, greater comfort for residents, and a more dignified experience during a critical transition in care.
“Families often tell us they’ll never forget that ride,” said Prosper. “It’s a quiet, gentle journey that provides a moment of peace before saying goodbye. Transportation may seem like a simple service, but for many families, it marks the beginning of the compassionate care experience that defines Ed’s House.”
