COMMUNITY WORKS IN HAMILTON TOWNSHIP our version of a food bank and more Receives grant from 100+ Women With Heart, Northumberland Chapter of 100 Women Who Care.

The food bank in Hamilton Township has been in operation since 2006 and is currently located in the Bewdley Community Centre, 7060 Lake Street Bewdley, Ontario. We are a registered charity operated and run entirely by volunteers. There are approximately 25 volunteers who work tirelessly to help those we serve. We do not have government funding or from United Way. Community Works is supported by monetary donations and food donations from individuals, churches, service clubs and corporations. Part of our food supply comes from Food4All, operated by Northumberland County. We are more than just food; we also have clothing which is sorted by a team of volunteers by size and season and genders ensuring they are ready to wear; small housewares, books and toys are also available. There is a team of volunteers who help in the food room or pantry to sort and put food away. Volunteers work Monday and Wednesday mornings 8:30 AM – 12 noon. Please drop by to see us. The food is ready to distribute on Thursdays when we are open for families 10 am – 3 pm. The coffee is always on and goodies at the social table for our families to enjoy while waiting to go into the pantry on Thursdays. We serve approximately 60 -70 households per week; touching 120 – 190 men, women and children. Christmas 2018 we provided 136 food hampers, over 100 children’s gift bags, 31 teen toiletry bags and 214 adult toiletry bags.

There is a web page link for us at https://www.hamiltontownship.ca/en/resident-services/community-support.aspx. We can be reached at 905-797-2535 Ex 22; by e-mail CWIHTBewdley@gmail.com or via regular mail Community Works in Hamilton Township P.O.Box 547, Bewdley, Ontario K0K 1E0. Income tax receipts are issued for donations of $20.00 or more. Clothing donations may be dropped in our clothing bin at any time.

Funding allows us to continue to touch the hearts and lives of those who are in our midst in Northumberland County. A big thank you goes to Donna Cole for thinking of us once again and nominating Community Works. It is with humble, heartfelt thanks and gratitude to 100+ Women With Heart, the Northumberland Chapter of 100 Women Who Care that we receive their generous gift of $5,600.00 in order for us to continue to serve our food bank families. This grant will ensure that we are able to provide meat and protein for our families on a regular monthly basis. We have a saying from one of our volunteers when something we are in need of seems to just come along. It’s called an “angel’s wink.” You have no idea how much this means to us and our food bank families. You are all angels with generous hearts for thinking of us and you have given us the biggest ‘wink’ ever! On their behalf “Thank you for caring. Thank you for sharing.”
