We are so grateful for the community of women that make up our giving circle. 100+ Women Who Care Northumberland brings together a dynamic group of women of all ages, backgrounds and experiences. There is magic in the air when we meet. Some people reuniting after a few years apart; others meeting for the very first time. We find common ground in our love for community and our compassion for supporting causes that care for people and the environment in Northumberland County.

The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) is pleased to announce that we have been selected as the recipient of the latest grant from the 100 Women of Northumberland, receiving $6,700 to go towards our Trans Peer Outreach program. The donation was presented to CMHA HKPR on June 22nd, 2022 at the 100 Women of Northumberland’s June meeting at the Mill in Cobourg.
The 100 Women of Northumberland consists of a group of local women who meet four times per year and select a local registered charity or non-profit to receive a collective grant in the amount of the membership contributions at the time of the meeting. The idea is that by joining funds, the group can make more of an impact, creating real change within the community.
CMHA HKPR’s Trans Peer Outreach program offers supports and services for transgender and gender diverse people and their families, to assist them to improve the quality of their lives through the provision of community-based, client centered care that supports positive interdependence. Services are delivered by people with lived-experience as a transgender or gender-diverse person, and who also may have experience living with a mental health concern.
CMHA HKPR and the Trans Peer Outreach program would like to sincerely thank the 100 Women of Northumberland for selecting us to receive their latest grant.

This grant will go directly towards enhancing the Trans Peer Outreach Family Supports by allowing us to offer more group opportunities and 1:1 supports. This will allow us to help more family, friends, caregivers, and loved ones of individuals who are trans, non-binary, or gender questioning,” says Carl Cruise-Baxter, Trans Peer Outreach Worker with CMHA HKPR.
Sounds of the Next Generation (SONG) is thrilled to announce the receipt of a generous grant from 100+ Women Northumberland. Thank you ladies!!!! – with an additional tip of our hats to Lori Copeland for nominating our program. Your support means so much to everyone involved in SONG programming. SONG is a free music education program for children residing in Northumberland County. Through ensemble music making SONG students learn social engagement and development, inclusiveness and leadership, opening doors and helping them achieve brighter futures. This generous gift provides music education that builds skills like confidence, creativity and resilience. 100+Women Northumberland is helping music change lives – one rehearsal at a time. The SONG students, their families and the SONG Board of Directors simply cannot express our thanks enough. The generous donation made by 100+Women Northumberland will ensure SONG programming can reach as many students as possible this school year. Our hearts are full knowing that ALL kids who want to sing and create music together will be able to do so in the medium they feel safest. Whether our students choose to make music together in-person or online, this donation has meant they have ready access to SONG programming and the community of care that comes with it. Gift from the Heart (GFTH) is ecstatic to announce we have received a $6,141 grant from 100+ Women Who Care Northumberland to support its “OPEN WIDE” Oral Health Outreach Program.
GFTH is a charitable Canadian organization based in Codrington, Ontario committed to addressing the barriers that we all face in accessing affordable preventive oral health care. The Gift from the Heart envisions Canadians with improved overall health and a better quality of life through barrier-free access to essential oral healthcare services provided by oral health care professionals. Our organization operates on the generousity of volunteers, there are no paid employees and no government funding, just people with huge hearts who care and want to make a difference.
Earlier this year GFTH was donated a decommissioned ambulance from Northumberland Paramedics which we quickly refitted with a dental chair to start delivering dental hygiene care and oral cancer screenings.
Before we could schedule teeth cleaning appointments, we needed to fundraise to purchase a mobile compressor/vacuum unit and dental hygiene instruments. With the presentation of this grant from 100+ Women Who Care Northumberland we are now booked solid every week providing essential dental hygiene cleanings for our neighbours in need.
