Community Living-West Northumberland (CL-WN) is committed to providing quality support for people with disabilities to live, learn and work as valued citizens.
Today, staff representatives from CL-WN graciously accepted their 100+ Women Northumberland Grant of $6300. CL-WN is thankful to 100+ Women member Judy Rahme for the nomination that introduced them to this great opportunity.
At the June meeting of 100+ Women, CL-WN presented their request for funding to attain further knowledge and training to best support the people and their families challenged with the many stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. This additional training will directly support keeping staff members up to date and equipped with strategies and tools so they can effectively support both the person and their family. This support is key to preventing the need for early access to Long Term Care facilities and, in many cases, group living. By providing this training, CL-WN will also be assisting people to maintain the inclusive community-based activities they currently enjoy.
The Grant will assist CL-WN to train five staff members and two families in dementia care. With summer activities winding down, CL-WN is excited to start this project and get staff members registered for training. CL-WN is appreciative of the support of 100+ Women and their commitment to the community.
